About

Our Mission

The mission of the church is to present the "good news" that Jesus Christ is Saviour and Lord. As such, He calls all people to relationship with Him.

About us:

This used to be the spot on the webpage that showcased our history. That history was mainly just dates, names, and details about our church building. It didn’t communicate, really, who we are. And Church is about the people, right?

So, who are we?

Demographically - we are multi-generational - ages from 0 to 80+ pretty evenly distributed.

Professionally - we are farmers, nurses, tradespeople, service industry people, sales, managers, clerks, retired persons, and students.

Words to describe the people at Glad Tidings: unassuming; down to earth; pretty friendly, but sometimes shy; polite; hospitable.

Attendance - anywhere between 60 and 100 depending on the season and/or holiday. Cottagers and campers are frequent in the summer. And routinely, those who grew up here will return on a visit home.

Our church reflects our community… a small town sees many of its young people depart for university and/or jobs in larger centers. A few are able to stay and remain part of the fabric. But even those who go away continue to call Campbellford ‘home’.

Our church is like that too. Over the years many have grown up in our church and moved away to live their lives and their faith in other places, but ‘home’ is Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church. So, like a lot of families, our family is here, but also in other places. This ‘homestead’, however, continues to thrive, as Christ promised it would.

One of elements that helps maintain this homestead vibe is long-term, stable, pastoral leadership. Two pastors over the last nearly 60 years with more than two decades of overlap between them has enabled Glad Tidings to be a steady, reliable influence in our community. Our pastors not only pastor our congregation, but our community as well.

Do you want to visit or join us?

Sometimes family churches can be difficult to join. We get that. We also understand that in smaller churches visitors can feel awkward. The smaller the church the more you feel you ‘stick out’. But we have visitors every week. You would not be a novelty to us. And that might be helpful to some.

Two ways to join the family:  some are born into it… we have lots of children here (and we’re happy about this), but many have been adopted into our family at whatever age. Those who are adopted often appreciate the reality of belonging more than those who have never not been part of the family.

Not everyone who visits our church can join the family, we understand that, but our door is always open, our table always has extra chairs – for those who are ‘on a journey’. We won’t centre you out or embarrass you. However, if you are not at least greeted or get a few friendly nods, I’d be surprised. If you feel at home here, like we do, you can make a home here too. Or, you can just come for a visit.
